Circular Elastic Plate Resting on Tensionless Pasternak Foundation

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2004
In this technical note, a thin circular plate resting on a two-parameter (Pasternak-type) foundation is studied under concentrated central and distributed loads. The governing equations of the plate are derived for static loading case considering the lift off (uplift) of the plate from the foundation.

Effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia on elastically constrained beam resting on pasternak foundation

Physica Scripta, 2023
Abstract This study investigates the free vibrations of elastically constrained shear and Rayleigh beams placed on the Pasternak foundation. Of particular interest, it is aimed to analyze the influence of shear strain, rotational inertia, elastic stiffness, and shear layer on the natural frequencies and eigenmodes of beam vibrations. For

Large Deflection of a Rectangular Plate Resting on a Pasternak-Type Elastic Foundation

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1977
The problem of large deflection of a rectangular plate resting on a Pasternak-type foundation and subjected to a uniform lateral load has been investigated by utilizing the linearized equation of plates due to H. M. Berger. The solutions derived and based on the effect of the two base parameters have been carried to practical conclusions by presenting ...

Bending of thick functionally graded plates resting on Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundations

Mechanics of Composite Materials, 2010
The static response of simply supported functionally graded plates (FGP) subjected to a transverse uniform load (UL) or a sinusoidally distributed load (SL) and resting on an elastic foundation is examined by using a new hyperbolic displacement model. The present theory exactly satisfies the stress boundary conditions on the top and bottom surfaces of ...

Buckling analysis of magnetoelectroelastic plate resting on Pasternak elastic foundation

Mechanics Research Communications, 2014
Abstract Buckling analysis of magnetoelectroelastic plate resting on Pasternak foundation is investigated based on the Mindlin theory. The in-plane electric and magnetic fields can be ignored for magnetoelectroelastic plates. According to Maxwell equation and magnetoelectric boundary condition, the variation of electric and magnetic potentials along ...

Analysis of Circular Elastic Plate Resting on Pasternak Foundation by Strain Energy Approach

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2011
In this paper, an analytical expression for the deflection of a thin circular elastic plate resting on the Pasternak foundation is derived by adopting the strain energy approach. The parametric study is carried out to observe the location of the plate lift-off and the variation of the deflection profiles for comparing the variation pattern reported in ...

An approach for the Pasternak elastic foundation parameters estimation of beams using simulated frequencies

Inverse Problems in Science and Engineering, 2017
AbstractAs a first attempt, a mix of differential quadrature (DQ) and simplex (S) method for the Pasternak elastic foundation parameters estimation of beams using simulated frequencies is presented. The method is applied for the parameters estimation of functionally graded (FG) beams.

Thermomechanical bending response of FGM thick plates resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundations

Steel & Composite structures, 2013
The present work deals with the thermomechanical bending response of functionally graded plates resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundations. Theoretical formulations are based on a recently developed refined trigonometric shear deformation theory (RTSDT).

Linear and nonlinear elastic analysis of closely spaced strip foundations using Pasternak model

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering, 2016
In this study, an attempt is made to determine the interaction effect of two closely spaced strip footings using Pasternak model. The study considers small strain problem and has been performed using linear as well as nonlinear elastic analysis to determine the interaction effect of two nearby strip footings.
