Negative Stiffness Induced and Controlled by Constriction
Structures with negative stiffness can be stabilized by constriction of external displacement. Furthermore, constriction can make a conventional positive stiffness material exhibit negative stiffness, either bidirectional or unidirectional (shown in the figure).

Can riots represent? A democratic theory
Abstract Political theory has been perennially concerned with interrogating, identifying, and clarifying the political functions of riots. Yet, political theorists have mostly fallen short of explaining the relationship between riots and democracy, although this is central to the democratic theory of contestation and crucial for evaluating the ...

Nonlinear vibrations of fluid transporting pipelines on a viscoelastic foundation
The article presents the results of a study of vibration process in pipelines conveying fluid or gas. A mathematical model pipeline was used in the form of cylindrical shell and a viscoelastic foundation in the form of two-parameter model of the ...

Application of Differential Transform Method to Vibration Analysis of Damped Railway Bridge on Pasternak Foundation under Moving Train [PDF]
In this paper, we used differential transform method (DTM) to analyse free vibration of a railway bridge, modelled as an orthotropic rectangular plate, supported by Pasternak foundation. The effect of damping was considered.
