A Stereocontrolled Access to (±)‐, (−)‐, and (+)‐Patchouli Alcohol

Helvetica Chimica Acta, 1981
AbstractThe racemate and both enantiomers of patchouli alcohol have been synthesized by stereocontrolled routes. The olfactive properties of the patchouli alcohols prepared are reported.

Stereocontrolled total synthesis of (±)hydroxy patchouli alcohol and the corresponding (±)-carboxylic acid, metabolites of patchouli alcohol, and (±)-norpatchoulenol

Tetrahedron Letters, 1984
Abstract The first total synthesis of (±)-hydroxy patchouli alcohol (3) and the corresponding (±)-carboxylic acid 4, the biooxidation products of patchouli alcohol (2) has been achieved. (±)-Norpatchoulenol (1) has also been synthesized by the biogenetic route via 3 and 4.

Preventive Activity of Patchouli Alcohol Against Colorectal Cancer and Diabetes

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
Patchouli alcohol (PA) is a tricyclic sesquiterpene and the dominant bioactive component in oil extracted from the aerial parts of Pogostemon cablin (patchouli). It has been reported to possess diverse health-beneficial activities, including anti-inflammatory, antiobese, and anticancer ...

ChemInform Abstract: REACTION OF PATCHOULI ALCOHOL WITH LEAD TETRA‐ACETATE, A NEW, REGIOSPECIFIC FRAGMENTATION OF PATCHOULI ALCOHOL

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1977

An enantiospecific total synthesis of (−)-patchouli alcohol

Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, 2005
An enantiospecific total synthesis of patchouli alcohol, starting from the readily available monoterpene (R)-carvone, has been accomplished. A tandem double Michael reaction-alkylation sequence and single electron mediated 6-endo trig cyclisation reaction have been employed as key steps.

An Efficient Approach to Patchouli Alcohol Analogues

Helvetica Chimica Acta, 1977
AbstractA short approach to the tricyclo [5.3.1.03,8] undecane derivatives 1, 10, 11 and 12 and to the tricyclo [4.3.1.03,7] decane derivative 2, starting from industrially available intermediates, is described. Of the compounds 1, 10, 11, and 12, which possess the ring system of patchouli alcohol, 12 also exhibits a woody, patchouli‐like note.

Preparative Separation of Patchouli Alcohol from Patchouli Oil Using High Performance Centrifugal Partition Chromatography

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 2011
Abstract A high-performance centrifugal partition chromatography (HPCPC) method was developed for the preparative separation of patchouli alcohol. The separation was performed with a nonaqueous two-phase solvent system consisting of petroleum ether (bp.30–60°C)-acetonitrile (1:1, v/v) in descending separation mode. A total of more than 2 g of patchouli

Patchouli Alcohol Dampens Lipopolysaccharide Induced Mastitis in Mice

Inflammation, 2014
Patchouli alcohol (PA), a tricyclic sesquiterpene isolated from Pogostemonis Herba, has been known to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and other important therapeutic activities. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of PA on LPS-induced mastitis in vivo and the possible mechanism.

Stereocontrolled total synthesis of (±)-norpatchoulenol and two metabolites of patchouli alcohol, (±)-hydroxy patchouli alcohol and the corresponding (±)-carboxylic acid

Tetrahedron, 1987
Abstract The first total synthesis of the two biooxidation products of patchouli alcohol (2), (±)-hydroxy patchouli alcohol (3) and the corresponding (±)-carboxylic acid 4, has been achieved in highly stereoconcrolled manners. Synthesis of (±)-norpatchoulenol (1), the real odoriferous substance of patchouli oil, has been accomplished by the ...

Patchouli Alcohol, a Compound from Pogostemon cablin , Inhibits Obesity

Journal of Medicinal Food, 2020
Obesity predisposes people to a variety of chronic metabolic diseases. Identification of natural factors that prevent the development of obesity is likely to be the most successful means of ameliorating the current obesity epidemic. Patchouli alcohol is a sesquiterpene alcohol found in Pogostemon cablin and possesses health benefit activities.
