To develop a capillary gas chromatographic method for the determination and pharmacokinetic study of patchouli alcohol in rat plasma after iv administration. The drug was extracted with ethyl acetate. Eugenol was used as internal standard. The separation was carried out on a HP-5MS quartz capillary column, with high-purity nitrogen as carrier gas and ...

A formal synthesis of (—)‐patchouli alcohol from (—)‐carvone
Chinese Journal of Chemistry, 1991AbstractEnantiomerically pure 6‐acetyl‐1,3,3‐trimethyl bicyclo[2.2.2]octan‐2‐one, a key intermediate for synthesis of (‐)‐patchouli alcohol, was facilely synthesized from the adduct of a monomethylated (‐)‐carvone 2 and methyl acrylate.

Effect of patchouli alcohol on Helicobacter pylori-induced neutrophil recruitment and activation
International Immunopharmacology, 2019Neutrophil infiltration typically occurs in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-induced acute gastritis; however, this immune response fails to eradicate H. pylori in vivo. Moreover, reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are generated by neutrophils, cause severe damage to gastric mucosa.

Anti-inflammatory activity of patchouli alcohol in RAW264.7 and HT-29 cells
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2013Patchouli alcohol (PA) is a chemical compound extracted from patchouli which belongs to the genus Pogostemon, herb of mint family. Recently, it has been reported that PA inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators. However, the biological mechanisms of PA for anti-inflammatory activities have not been studied.
