Empirical Path Loss Models Optimization for Mobile Communication

2018 IEEE 5th International Congress on Information Science and Technology (CiSt), 2018
In this paper, the most widely used empirical path loss models are compared to real data; the most appropriate one (COST-231) has been optimized using three different algorithms to fit measured data for mobile communication system. The performance of the adjusted Cost-231 model obtained by the proposed methods is then compared to the experimental data.

Path Loss Modeling for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication on a Slope

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2014
Path loss modeling for both regular and irregular terrains is still gaining significant attention from researchers. A sloped terrain is one specific kind of an irregular terrain that-as far as we are aware-has not been completely studied. Although some results have been published for slope path loss modeling in cellular communication, an adequate model

Evaluation of Path Loss Models at WiMAX Cell-Edge

2011 4th IFIP International Conference on New Technologies, Mobility and Security, 2011
WiMAX coverage range is one of the important factors that will affect the quality of broadband access services in mobile systems. Predicting and finding the path loss is essential in planning and designing cellular mobile systems. This paper presents a comprehensive study of path loss on mobile WiMAX which has been developed to provide high throughput ...

Distance dependence of path loss models with weighted fitting

2016 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2016
The path loss model describing the power-law dependency on distance plus a log-normally distributed shadowing attenuation, is a staple of link budgets and system simulations. Determination of the parameters of this model is usually done from measurements and ray tracing.

Comparison of neural network models for path loss prediction

WiMob'2005), IEEE International Conference on Wireless And Mobile Computing, Networking And Communications, 2005., 2006
This work presents the results of the studies concerning the applications of the feedforward neural networks to the prediction of propagation path loss in urban and suburban environment. First, neural network models are designed in order to predict the path loss.

Modeling Cellular-to-UAV Path-Loss for Suburban Environments

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2018
Operating unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over cellular networks would open the barriers of remote navigation and far-flung flying by combining the benefits of UAVs and the ubiquitous availability of cellular networks. In this letter, we provide an initial insight on the radio propagation characteristics of cellular-to-UAV (CtU) channel.

Outdoor-to-indoor path loss modeling at 10.1 GHz

2016 10th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2016
This paper presents a grazing angle dependent outdoor-to-indoor (O2I) path loss model at 10.1 GHz for a glass and a concrete wall. The COST 231 O2I path loss model is used as a baseline in model creation. The parameters for the model are derived from radio channel measurements performed with a vector network analyzer and a single-input single-output ...

An empirical path loss model for HVAC duct systems

Global Telecommunications Conference, 2002. GLOBECOM '02. IEEE, 2004
We present a simple path loss prediction model for link budget analysis in indoor wireless local area networks (LANs) that use heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) ducts. The model we propose predicts the average power at each location in an HVAC duct network. This prediction model greatly simplifies the analysis for a complex duct network,
