Characterization of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, an Emerging Fungal Pathogen Causing Blight in Hyacinth Bean (Lablab purpureus)

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2018
Stems and pods of hyacinth bean cultivated in a farmer’s field in Gazipur District, Bangladesh, were found rotted in nearly 5% hyacinth bean plants. A fungus having fluffy mycelium and large sclerotia was isolated from affected tissues.

Principles for Rigorous Design and Application of Synthetic Microbial Communities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SynComs are artificially designed to enable inter‐species metabolic interactions, metabolic division of labor, and ecological interactions that can elicit phenotypes like colonization stability and environmental adaptation. This systematic review explores the processes used to construct SynComs, the assessment of the mechanisms of metabolic interaction

Effect of lead and zinc on the growth of some mycorrhizal fungi in vitro

open access: yesActa Mycologica, 2014
Growth reaction of five mycorrhizal fungi and pathogenic one in the presence of different Pb and Zn concentration was tested. It was confirmed that mycorrhizal strains were more sensitive to lead than zinc.

Amodiaquine Enhances Anti‐Melanoma Efficacy of Attenuated Salmonella via Targeting Glutathione Reductase in Neutrophils

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that Salmonella VNP20009 recruits pro‐tumor neutrophils that reduce its anticancer efficacy. Combining VNP with amodiaquine selectively eliminates these neutrophils by targeting glutathione reductase. A GR‐shRNA‐loaded VNP strain was further developed, demonstrating an innovative strategy integrating drug repurposing with synthetic ...

PCR-based characterisation of entomopathogenic fungi for ecological studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The implementation of PCR-based tools for characterisation of organisms has greatly advanced our understanding of the phylogenies and species boundaries in entomopathogenic fungi, especially the widespread taxa Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium ...
