Pathway Modeling and Simulation
2009In this chapter we will combine the modeling methods described in Chapter 4 to model and simulate larger pathways. Specifically, we will create models for the gene regulatory, metabolic, and signaling pathways using Cell Illustrator. This chapter should enable the reader to create a variety of new pathways.

Sequence analysis methods predict macromolecule properties and intermolecular interactions. These data can be used to reconstruct molecular networks, which are complex systems that regulate cell functions. Systems biology uses mathematical modeling and computer-based numerical simulations in order to understand emergent properties of these systems ...

In this chapter, the medical, sociological and medicalization models are drawn together. Stressors (predicaments) have an impact on vulnerable individuals. Vulnerability takes two forms, one from the sociological perspective (due to the regulations and support provided by society) and the other from the medical perspective (due to nature and nurture ...

The elements of the proposed model are neuron sets. An element may be weakly or strongly active. If an element is active (weakly or strongly) it may activate a neighboring element (weakly or strongly). This lasts one elementary time.
