A Markov Classification Model for Metabolic Pathways [PDF]
This paper considers the problem of identifying pathways through metabolic networks that relate to a specific biological response. Our proposed model, HME3M, first identifies frequently traversed network paths using a Markov mixture model. Then by employing a hierarchical mixture of experts, separate classifiers are built using information specific to ...

Statistical modelling of biochemical pathways
The usefulness of Bayesian statistical methods for the modelling of biochemical reactions is examined. With simulated data, it is shown that these methods can effectively fit mechanistic models of sequences of enzymatic reactions to experimental data.

Clinical pathway modelling: a literature review [PDF]
Hospital information systems are increasingly used as part of decision support tools for planning at strategic, tactical and operational decision levels. Clinical pathways are an effective and efficient approach in standardising the progression of treatment, to support patient care and facilitate clinical decision making.

Modelling the Structure and Dynamics of Biological Pathways [PDF]
There is a need for formalised diagrams that both summarise current biological pathway knowledge and support modelling approaches that explain and predict their behaviour. Here, we present a new, freely available modelling framework that includes a biologist-friendly pathway modelling language (mEPN), a simple but sophisticated method to support model ...

Modularisation of published and novel models toward a complex KIR2DL4 pathway in pbNK cell
: KIR2DL4 is an interesting receptor expressed on the peripheral blood natural killer (pbNK) cell as it can be either activating or inhibitory depending on the amino acid residues in the domain.

DISCRETE NONDETERMINISTIC MODELING OF THE FAS PATHWAY [PDF]
Computer modeling of molecular signaling cascades can provide useful insight into the underlying complexities of biological systems. We present a refined approach for the discrete modeling of protein interactions within the environment of a single cell.

An Overview of the Pathway Idea and Its Applications in Statistical and Physical Sciences
Pathway idea is a switching mechanism by which one can go from one functional form to another, and to yet another. It is shown that through a parameter α, called the pathway parameter, one can connect generalized type-1 beta family of densities ...
