COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Basic Hip Arthroscopy: Supine Patient Positioning and Dynamic Fluoroscopic Evaluation

open access: yes, 2015
Hip arthroscopy serves as both a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for the management of various conditions that afflict the hip. This article reviews the basics of hip arthroscopy by demonstrating supine patient positioning, fluoroscopic evaluation of the

The Impact of Patient Positioning on Video Laryngoscopy-Guided Tracheal Intubation in Obese Patients: A Prospective Observational Study Comparing Ramped versus Sniffing Position

open access: yesBali Journal of Anesthesiology
Background: A successful tracheal intubation depends on the patient being positioned optimally, especially in obese patients who frequently have difficult airway anatomy.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Axillary Artery Aneurysm as an Unforeseen Complication of the Park Bench Position: A Case Report

open access: yesBali Journal of Anesthesiology
Proper patient positioning is critical in neurosurgery to optimize surgical access and minimize complications. The park bench (PB) position is frequently employed for posterior fossa procedures due to its neurosurgical advantages but carries risks of ...

Does intraprocedure patient positioning affect outcome of chemical pleurodesis for malignant pleural effusion?

open access: yesIbom Medical Journal
Background: Chemical pleurodesis using tetracycline is an acceptable and commonly employed palliation for malignant pleural effusion. Rotation of patient during pleurodesis using the powder from tetracycline capsule is still practised in some centres ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Evaluation of Accuracy and Limitation in Patient Positioning

open access: yes, 2010
Propose: Patient positioning is a crucial part in radiation therapy. It is largely related to achieving the appropriate irradiation and the planned dose in tumor, and also reducing unnecessary dose in normal tissue.
