Mediolateral oblique projection in mammography: use of different angulation for patients with different thorax anatomies

open access: yesJournal of Health Sciences, 2019
Introduction: The literature describes that MLO projection is not done only with angulation of 45° but there is a wider span of angles that can be used.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Proximal femoral nailing for unstable trochanteric fractures: lateral decubitus position or traction table? A case-control study of 96 patients

open access: yesSICOT-J
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures with short proximal femoral nailing in elderly patients in the lateral decubitus position versus the supine position on traction tables. Methods: From June

Comparison of ILMA Guided Tracheal Intubation in the Lateral Position with the Supine Position

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2013
Background: The ILMA has been established as a valuable airway management device in the supine position, in both elective and emergency situations, for both ventilation and intubation.

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Comparison of glottic visualisation through supraglottic airway device (SAD) using bronchoscope in the ramped versus supine 'sniffing air' position: A pilot feasibility study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2020
Background and Aims: Airway management in obese patients is associated with increased risk of difficult airway and intubation. After failed intubation, supraglottic airway-guided flexible bronchoscopic intubation (SAGFBI) may be required. It is uncertain

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Application of Machine Learning in Early Recommendation of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of morbidity, mortality, and health care costs. Prolonged conduction through the myocardium can occur with HF, and a device-driven approach, termed cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), can improve left ventricular (LV) myocardial conduction patterns.
