Eye‐Tracking Analysis in Surface‐Guided Radiation Therapy Positioning: A Comparative Study of Experienced and Novice Radiation Therapists

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences
The patient setup using the surface‐guided radiation therapy (SGRT) system differs from conventional surface marker procedures. Owing to the abundance of three‐dimensional information, there may be operator variability in where to focus during the ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Upright patient positioning for pelvic radiotherapy treatments

open access: yes, 2022
Radiotherapy is typically delivered in supine position. However, upright positioning may affect organ volume, positioning, and movement, compared to supine/prone positioning which might have beneficial impacts.

Mediolateral oblique projection in mammography: use of different angulation for patients with different thorax anatomies

open access: yesJournal of Health Sciences, 2019
Introduction: The literature describes that MLO projection is not done only with angulation of 45° but there is a wider span of angles that can be used.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Comparison of ILMA Guided Tracheal Intubation in the Lateral Position with the Supine Position

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2013
Background: The ILMA has been established as a valuable airway management device in the supine position, in both elective and emergency situations, for both ventilation and intubation.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Prospective assessment of patient morbidity from prone sacral positioning

open access: yes, 2012
Object Sacrectomy positioning must balance surgical exposure, localization, associated operative procedures, and patient safety. Poor positioning may increase hemorrhage, risk of blindness, and skin breakdown.

Dose-guided patient positioning in proton radiotherapy using multicriteria-optimization

open access: yes, 2022
S.216-228Proton radiotherapy (PT) requires accurate target alignment before each treatment fraction, ideally utilizing 3D in-room X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging.
