How Do Sleep Difficulties Interact With Anxiety, Depression and Health‐Related Quality of Life in Pulmonary Hypertension?

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 8, August 2026.
Our findings support that of others suggesting that most adults with pulmonary hypertension report difficulties with sleep, highlighting the importance of routine screening. Where sleep difficulties are identified, screening for co‐occurring depression may also be required given the strong association between the two.

Economic inequality and social mobility in preindustrial societies: What we know, what we don't (but should) know

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 3, Page 871-899, August 2026.
Abstract In recent years economic inequality has become a major research topic in economic history. However, much remains to be done to complete our knowledge of long‐term distributive dynamics. This article highlights several promising avenues for future research, focusing on the preindustrial period.

Iron Overload: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis and Monitoring

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 747-756, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Iron overload is associated with significant health risks, underscoring the importance of understanding its pathophysiology as well as establishing accurate diagnostic and monitoring methods. Chronic iron overload is associated with either genetic disorders characterized by excessive iron accumulation (hereditary hemochromatosis), or is ...

The Role of CD4 T Cell Repertoire and Immune Memory Mechanisms in Vaccination and Infection Immunity

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT CD4+ T cells orchestrate adaptive immunity against respiratory viruses through functionally distinct subsets, yet the qualitative differences between vaccine‐ and infection‐induced responses remain incompletely understood. This review summarizes current evidence on how CD4+ T cell subsets shape the magnitude, breadth, and durability of ...

14‐3‐3 proteins: Central hubs in plant development and stress adaptation

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 8, Page 3107-3132, August 2026.
This review highlights recent advances elucidating the important roles of 14‐3‐3 proteins in regulating phytohormone networks, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, growth‐defense trade‐offs, and evolutionary adaptations. Furthermore, it provides a forward‐looking perspective on 14‐3‐3 biology and the development of climate‐resilient smart crops under ...

Microtubules in Spinal Cord Injury: From Cytoskeletal Dysregulation to Therapeutic Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 8, August 2026.
Graphical illustration of the microtubule interactome following spinal cord injury as potential targets for therapy. ABSTRACT Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers an immediate and sustained disruption of the composition and organization of the neuronal cytoskeleton.

Parental Loss in Early Years and Adult Family Formation: Evidence From U.S. Cohorts Born 1850–1910

open access: yesJournal of Marriage and Family, Volume 88, Issue 4, Page 915-931, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This paper examines the long‐term impact of parental loss in early years on family formation as adults in U.S. cohorts born between 1850 and 1910, focusing on age assortative mating and the timing of first childbirth. Background Early parental loss can profoundly shape children's adult family formation trajectories.

Integrated histopathological, physiological, biochemical, and molecular analysis of gill responses to acute salinity stress in red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Growing freshwater scarcity in China is driving aquaculture interests toward saline‐tolerant fish species. Red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) is a euryhaline species with strong osmoregulatory capacity, making it an ideal model for investigating stress‐induced physiological changes.

Putatively Adaptive and Genome‐Wide Genetic Variation Often Rank Populations as Similarly Distinctive

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 15, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Identifying which populations within species to prioritize to maintain genetic diversity is challenging. Due to its direct connection to current patterns of adaptation and presumed connection to adaptive capacity, some researchers advocate prioritizing adaptive variation.
