The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

An artificial immune pattern recognition approach for damage classification in structures

open access: yes, 2011
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is one of the research topics that have received growing interest in research communities. While a lot of efforts have been made in detecting damages in structures, very few researches have been conducted for the ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Specific emitter identification by wavelet residual network based on attention mechanism

open access: yesIET Communications
Specific emitter identification technology plays a very important role in spectrum resource management, wireless network security, cognitive radio etc. However, in complex electromagnetic environments, the variability and uncertainty of signals make it ...

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Development of Neural Network Techniques for Finger-Vein Pattern Classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
[[abstract]]A personal identification system using finger-vein patterns and neural network techniques is proposed in the presentstudy. In the proposed system, the finger-vein patterns are captured by a device that can transmit near infraredthrough the ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Learning naive Bayes classifiers for music classification and retrieval

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we explore the use of naive Bayes classifiers for music classification and retrieval. The motivation is to employ all audio features extracted from local windows for classification instead of just using a single song-level feature vector ...
