Constructing universal pattern formation processes governed by reaction-diffusion systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2002
For a given connected compact subset $K$ in $mathbb{R}^n$ we construct a smooth map $F$ on $mathbb{R}^{1+n}$ in such a way that the corresponding reaction-diffusion system $u_t=DDelta u+F(u)$ of $n+1$ components $u=(u_0,u_1,dots ,u_n)$, accompanying with

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Emergence of spatial patterns in a mathematical model for the co-culture dynamics of epithelial-like and mesenchymal-like cells

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2017
Accumulating evidence indicates that the interaction between epithelial and mesenchymal cells plays a pivotal role in cancer development and metastasis formation.

Pattern formation in 2-frequency forced parametric waves

open access: yes, 2001
We present an experimental investigation of superlattice patterns generated on the surface of a fluid via parametric forcing with 2 commensurate frequencies.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Pattern formation of a predator-prey model with the cost of anti-predator behaviors

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2018
We propose and analyse a reaction-diffusion-advection predator-prey model in which we assume that predators move randomly but prey avoid predation by perceiving a repulsion along predator density gradient.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Large-Scale Flow Structure in Turbulent Poiseuille Flows at Low-Reynolds Numbers

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2012
Direct numerical simulations of a spectral method are performed to study the turbulent channel flow at the low-Reynolds numbers, where the quasi-laminar and turbulent regions simultaneously appear and form the stripe pattern, which is floated downstream ...
