Success potential of automated star pattern recognition

24th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1986
A quasi-analytical model is presented for calculating the success probability of automated star pattern recognition systems for attitude control of spacecraft. The star data is gathered by an imaging star tracker (STR) with a circular FOV capable of detecting 20 stars.

Artificial intelligence for pattern recognition in automated surface engineering

2012 International Conference on Systems and Informatics (ICSAI2012), 2012
Ability to measure the surface quality in real-time has many applications in manufacturing automation and product optimization, especially in processes in which the surface qualities such as roughness, grain size, thickness of coding, impurities size and distribution, hardness, and other mechanical properties are of importance.

Pattern Recognition for Driving Scenario Detection in Real Driving Data

2020 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2020
For the scenario-based development and testing of automated and connected driving an unknown huge number of different driving scenarios is needed. In this paper we propose an approach that extracts driving scenarios from real driving data without any ...

Towards Automated Classifier Combination for Pattern Recognition

2003
This study covers weighted combination methodologies for multiple classifiers to improve classification accuracy. The classifiers are extended to produce class probability estimates besides their class label assignments to be able to combine them more efficiently.

A pattern recognition approach to automated coronary calcium scoring

Proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2004. ICPR 2004., 2004
An automated method for coronary calcification detection is presented. First the heart region is extracted, in which objects potentially representing calcifications are obtained by thresholding. Besides coronary calcifications, the set of objects includes other heart calcifications, bony structures and noise.

Automated sizing, counting and identification of zooplankton by pattern recognition

Marine Biology, 1984
A computerized system was developed to automate the analysis of zooplankton samples. Classification to major taxonomic group was based on discriminant analysis of morphological features. Images were generated either from preserved organisms or from silhouette photographs. The latter technique simplified large-scale sample storage.

Recognition of pharmaceuticals with compact mini-Raman-spectrometer and automized pattern recognition algorithms

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Robust classification of pharmaceuticals in an industrial process is an important step for validation of the final product. Especially for pharmaceuticals with similar visual appearance a quality control is only possible if a reliable algorithm based on easily obtainable spectroscopic data is available.

Reservoir Heterogeneity Mapping Using an Automated Pattern Recognition Approach

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1999
Abstract In reservoirs with complex structure, such as turbidite sequences, rock fabrics exhibit great variations both vertically (example-Bouma sequences) and in lateral direction. In such formations, patterns observed on lithological logs can show considerable differences.
