Pictorial pattern recognition

Biosystems, 1969
Abstract This paper reviews some of the techniques which can be used to automatically classify and describe pictorial patterns. It discusses representative “preprocessing” and “property measurement” methods, with emphasis on methods which may be useful in processing biomedical pictures.

SURVEY OF PATTERN RECOGNITION

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1969
One of the important uses of computers in clinical medicine is for the classification or screening of data. Examples abound where high speed and inexpensive but reliable automatic classification is desired. Electrocardiographs must be classified as healthy or abnormal. Differential white blood cell counts require the ability to discriminate between the

Pattern Recognition

Computer, 1976
During the past fifteen years, there has been a considerable growth of interest in problems of pattern recognition. This interest has created an increasing need for theoretical methods and experimental software and hardware for use in the design of pattern recognition systems.

Pattern recognition

1994
Abstract The uniform approach to pattern inference developed in Chapters 13-17 enables us to deal with the different tasks - restoration, extrapolation, recognition, etc. - by the same methodology. We have, for example, developed inference algorithms in the same spirit for image restoration, extrapolation, and detection of abnormalities,
