A Study on the Pattern of Pilot’s Maneuvering using K-means Clustering of Ship’s Berthing Velocity

open access: yes, 2020
The most important factor when a ship is berthing is the berthing velocity. Excessive berthing velocity may cause accidents in ports and ships, so it is necessary to be cautious.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Oil palm fruit bunches maturity prediction using standard deviation of colour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Determination of correct maturity stage of the oil palm fruit bunches is crucial in maximizing oil extraction rate (OER) of the fresh fruit bunch (FFB). A right determination of the maturity stage will lead to the right time of fruit bunch harvesting day

Tolerance to the pattern contrast comparison.

open access: yes, 2019
Average phase-shift estimation errors as a function of the pattern contrast for maximum expected number of photons equal to 200 and 2000. The filled area represent the standard deviation of the 30 measurement performed for each value of the contrast.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Automatic threshold of standard deviation to reject noise in raw data of partial discharges

open access: yes, 2017
The raw data PD measurement results by using a computer usually contain noise that can lead to miss interpretation. So as to obtain an accurate diagnosis, then this noise must be separated from the raw data. In this study, the electrodes used were needle-

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Study the effect of Gaussian Filter on Point Spread Function for elliptical Aperture with elliptical obstruction

open access: yesJournal of Kufa-Physics, 2018
In this research , Point Spread Function (PSF) for elliptical aperture with  elliptical   obstruction of different  obstruction  ratio Ɛ(0.2,0.5, 0.8) was studied for regular illumination together with Gaussian filter.

The effect of Surface Heterogeneity on the Temperature-Humidity Correlation and the Relative Transport Efficiency

open access: yes, 2008
We derive a conceptual model of the flow over heterogeneous terrain consisting of patches with contrasting Bowen ratios. Upward moving eddies are assumed to carry heterogeneous properties, whereas downward moving eddies carry homogeneous properties. This

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
