Pattern Synthesis for Nonparametric Pattern Recognition

2009
Parametric methods first choose the form of the model or hypotheses and estimates the necessary parameters from the given dataset. The form, which is chosen, based on experience or domain knowledge, often, need not be the same thing as that which actually exists (Duda, Hart & Stork, 2000).

Structure‐Pattern‐Based Total Synthesis

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2019
Abstract In this article the concept of structure‐pattern‐recognition and its application to total synthesis is summarized. By applying this synthetic strategy to the two biogenetically unrelated natural product families Sarpagine and Stemona

Point Pattern Synthesis

The Cartographic Journal, 2010
Abstracttitle/>Patterns consisting of point symbols are commonly applied to symbolize land cover. Tree symbols, for example, indicate forested areas; small irregular dots show quarries and pits; or regular line symbols represent a vineyard. This paper presents an automatic method for synthesizing patterns consisting of one or more point symbols ...

Synthesis of Zolotarev Patterns

2007 International Symposium on Microwave, Antenna, Propagation and EMC Technologies for Wireless Communications, 2007
Using a modified Chebyshev pattern function with some control parameters, the Zolotarey difference patterns are synthesized by two proposed approaches. One approach consists in forming the pattern function expressed as the multiplication of the modified Chebyshev polynomial with an arctangent function; the other applies an interpolation technique to ...

Logical pattern synthesis

WESCON/59 Conference Record, 2005
Antennas with high performance characteristics can be designed by the use of logical and switching operations to combine the radiation patterns from a multiple antenna system. The mathematical and engineering principles employed are similar to those used in digital computer design. This paper presents a general discussion of logical operators useful in

Pattern synthesis

1994
Abstract Having introduced a regularity controlled probability measure on a configuration space the question naturally arises: can one simulate it? This task, that we shall speak of as pattern synthesis, is important for two reasons.

Structural Pattern Analysis for Texture Synthesis

First International Multi-Symposiums on Computer and Computational Sciences (IMSCCS'06), 2006
Sample based texture synthesis allows the generation of arbitrarily sized textures based on a small sample image. One main drawback of the technique is that a new pixel or patch is selected only considering local information in the generated texture. Thus structural error can't assure to be avoided for structural textures.

Antenna pattern synthesis

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium 1992 Digest, 1992
Summary form only given. The advances in the field of antenna pattern synthesis due to R.S. Elliott are reviewed, including linear and planar arrays, and continuous planar apertures. A method was developed by R.S. Elliott for equispaced linear arrays to control the amplitude of each sidelobe individually, and at the same time, have the main beam shape ...

Pattern Synthesis: Experiments

1991
We shall now apply the random shape model to hand pictures and start with simulation experiments. This will help us to get an intuitive understanding of the model and the prior measure it represents, what is the influence of the parameters and what sort of picture ensembles it will generate.

Pattern of polypeptide synthesis in myoblast hybrids

Experimental Cell Research, 1980
Abstract We have examined cell hybrids derived from L6J1 rat myoblasts and A9 mouse fibroblastic cells for expression of the myogenic phenotype. Initial results showed that hybrid cells were no longer able to form myotubes and hence showed extinction of the myogenic phenotype.
