Pattern matching and call by pattern

1975
The paper describes SNARK, a new pattern matching language which was specifically designed with the aim of extending programming languages with a new and effective control mechanism (pattern directed procedure call). SNARK features a powerful and extensible pattern language and an efficient pattern retrieval mechanism.

Native patterns

Proceedings Fifth Working Conference on Reverse Engineering (Cat. No.98TB100261), 2002
We generate a native pattern language from a context-free grammar. So if we have the underlying grammar of code that needs to be analyzed, or renovated the pattern language comes for free. We use native patterns for recognition and renovation of code. The pattern language is global in the sense that patterns can match entire programs.

Patterns of pattern formation

Nature, 1995
As participants at Nature's conference "Patterns of Life" (Boston, 9–10 November) found, moves to different organisms and even to biochemistry are helping to sustain the drive to understand how different body plans develop.

Mobility Patterns

GeoInformatica, 2005
We present a data model for tracking mobile objects and reporting the result of queries. The model relies on a discrete view of the spatio-temporal space, where the 2D space and the time axis are respectively partitioned in a finite set of user-defined areas and in constant-size intervals.

Patterns [software patterns]

IEEE Software, 2003
Patterns provide a mechanism for rendering design advice in a reference format. Software design is a massive topic, and when faced with a design problem, one must be able to focus on something as close to the problem as you can get. Patterns can help by trying to identify common solutions to recurring problems.
