Neural response during the activation of the attachment system in patients with borderline personality disorder: An fMRI study

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2016
Individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) are characterized by emotional instability, impaired emotion regulation and unresolved attachment patterns associated with abusive childhood experiences.

Contribution of attachment in children’s separation anxiety [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Literature suggests that child attachment and anxiety symptoms are related. The purpose of the present study was to assess whether attachment patterns related differently to separation anxiety symptoms (fear of being alone, and fear of abandonment ...

STM observation of the quantum interference effect in finite-sized graphite

open access: yes, 2004
Superperiodic patterns were observed by STM on two kinds of finite-sized graphene sheets. One is nanographene sheets inclined from a highly oriented pyrolitic graphite (HOPG) substrate and the other is several-layer-thick graphene sheets with dislocation-

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Observed infant-parent attachment and brain morphology in middle childhood– A population-based study

open access: yesDevelopmental Cognitive Neuroscience, 2019
Poor quality of the early infant-parent bond predicts later child problems. Infant-parent attachment has been suggested to influence brain development, but this association has hardly been examined.

Place, risk and resilience: adaptation in rapidly changing coasts (1051) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Coastal communities around the world are crucibles of change: shifting patterns of settlement and migration, new developments and new land uses, and climate change impacts such as sea level rise and weather extremes are reshaping place based risks and ...

Attachment style, assertive communication, and safer-sex behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This research tested the proposition that the effect of attachment security on safer-sex practice may be mediated by communication patterns. One hundred eighty-five undergraduate students completed questionnaire measures of attachment, assertiveness, and

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
