Attachment Patterns Trigger Differential Neural Signature of Emotional Processing in Adolescents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Research suggests that individuals with different attachment patterns process social information differently, especially in terms of facial emotion recognition.

Maternal–fetal attachment differentiates patterns of prenatal smoking and exposure [PDF]

open access: yesAddictive Behaviors, 2015
Smoking cessation during pregnancy may reflect altruistic motives on behalf of the unborn baby. We test the hypothesis that pregnancy quitters have higher maternal-fetal attachment than persistent smokers, and secondarily explore how maternal-fetal attachment differs among non-smokers, pregnancy quitters, and persistent smokers.Participants were 156 ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Teoria do apego: bases conceituais e desenvolvimento dos modelos internos de funcionamento

open access: yesArquivos Brasileiros de Psicologia, 2005
This article makes a revision of the Attachment Theory (AT), showing the initial ideas of Bowlby, theoretical and conceptual influences, principal contributions and classical researches which have formed the base of AT, as well as new formulations and ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Lattice fringe signatures of epitaxy on nanotubes

open access: yes, 2006
Carbon nanotubes are of potential interest as heterogeneous catalysis supports, in part because they offer a high surface area hexagonal array of carbon atoms for columnar or epitaxial attachment. Fringe visibility modeling of electron microscope lattice

A Method To Remove Fringes From Images Using Wavelets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We have developed a new method that uses wavelet analysis to remove interference fringe patterns from images. This method is particularly useful for flat fields in the common case where fringes vary between the calibration and object data. We analyze the

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Mental health among northern New Hampshire young adults: depression and substance problems higher than nationwide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This brief uses data on depressive and substance abuse symptoms from two surveys administered in 2011—the Coös Youth Study and the National Survey on Drug Use and Health—to compare mental health patterns among young adults in Coös County, New Hampshire ...
