Island spider origins show complex vertical stratification patterns in Macaronesia
Introduced species did not seem to have either preference for the lower strata on the studied range or for strata lower than the ones occupied by indigenous. Native non‐endemic species tended to be arboreal and having higher vertical range than endemic and introduced species.

Our study explores four alternative options open to increase marine food production: (1) manipulating the entire food web structure, (2) harvesting so far unexploited stocks, (3) low‐trophic mariculture of seaweeds and herbivorous animals, and (4) restoration of impoverished coastal ecosystems or artificially increasing productivity by ecological ...

Abstract Aim To assess the golimumab retention rate during up to 8 years of follow up, and any associated factors. Methods Retrospective analysis of the BIOBADASER (Spanish registry of biological drugs) database, assessing all adults who had ever started golimumab >6 months before the analysis for an approved indication (rheumatoid arthritis [RA ...

Intracultural variation in the knowledge of medicinal plants in an urban-rural community in the atlantic forest from northeastern Brazil. [PDF]
This study assessed the intracultural knowledge of the use of medicinal plants in an urban‐rural community in an Atlantic forest fragment in northeastern Brazil. We examined the importance of native and exotic species and the effects of gender and age on that knowledge.

Acanthopagrus oconnorae, a new species of seabream (Sparidae) from the Red Sea
Abstract A new species of sparid fish, Acanthopagrus oconnorae, is described based on 11 specimens collected in the shallow (0–1 m depth) mangrove‐adjacent sandflats of Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: second anal‐fin spine 12.8%–16.6% of standard length (SL); 3½ scale

Abstract Aim Habitat diversity has been linked to the diversity and structure of island communities, however, little is known about patterns and processes within habitats. Here we aim to determine the contributions of habitat type and inferred dispersal frequency to the differences in taxonomic structure between assemblages in the same island habitat ...

Abstract The qualified presumption of safety (QPS) procedure was developed to provide a harmonised generic pre‐evaluation to support safety risk assessments of biological agents performed by EFSA's Scientific Panels. The taxonomic identity, body of knowledge, safety concerns and antimicrobial resistance were assessed.

Abstract This study analyzes the effect of density on growth and feeding rate in Hediste diversicolor. In a first trial, specimens ranging in size from 10 to 500 mg were fed for 15 days at apparent satiety at eight stocking densities ranging from 500 to 16,000 individuals m−2. In a second trial, the effect of four manageable density levels ranging from

This study investigates how 3D habitat complexity and coral morphology shape reef fish functional groups. We found that both coral morphologies, particularly branching and mounding corals, and structural complexity metrics like slope and vector terrain ruggedness significantly drive fish functional group abundance.
