Analysis of cation‐π interactions using quantum chemistry and statistical analysis of high‐resolution protein structures

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Shown is a typical detail of a high‐resolution crystal structure (PDB ID 1B5E, chain A) showing the nearness of a phenylalanine residue, Phe24, and a lysine residue, Lys32, that are not engaged in the proposed cation–π interaction. The study statistically examines charged residues near phenylalanine's aromatic ring, supported by quantum chemical ...

Color Enhancement for Four-Component Decomposed Polarimetric SAR Image Based on a CIE-Lab Encoding

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Color enhancement of decomposed fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image is vital for visual understanding and interpretation of the polarimetric information about the target.

Shot‐Based Quantum Encoding: A Data‐Loading Paradigm for Quantum Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Computing, Volume 1, Issue 1, December 2026.
Shot‐based quantum encoding loads classical data without any encoding gates: a learned map turns each datum into a probability vector that dictates how many measurement shots start in each basis state, preparing a mixed state that a shallow variational circuit processes as a quantum perceptron layer.

A Top–Down Thermodynamically Motivated Perspective on Multiscale Material Modeling

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Established multiscale strategies such as QM/MM coupling, computational homogenization, quasi‐continuum approaches, and thermodynamically formulated continuum models provide powerful scale‐bridging tools, however, each of them is formulated on a different effective energetic level, and an explicit recursive energy reference structure ...

The Amazonian “Bacuri” Seeds Butter (Platonia insignis Mart.) Improves Ex Vivo Aortic Vascular Dysfunction and In Vivo Oxidative Stress in L‐NAME‐Treated Rats

open access: yesPhytochemicals in Food and Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2026.
Industrialised bacuri seed butter (Platonia insignis Mart.) exhibited antioxidant and vasorelaxant effects, improving vascular reactivity and oxidative stress biomarkers in hypertensive rats. These findings highlight MIB as a promising natural product for mitigating hypertension‐associated vascular dysfunction and oxidative stress.

Fast simulation of planar Clifford circuits [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
A general quantum circuit can be simulated classically in exponential time. If it has a planar layout, then a tensor-network contraction algorithm due to Markov and Shi has a runtime exponential in the square root of its size, or more generally ...

The Spontaneous Disentanglement Hypothesis and Causality

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 11, November 2026.
The hypothesis that disentanglement spontaneously occurs in quantum systems is motivated by some outstanding issues in the foundations of quantum mechanics. However, for some cases, spontaneous disentanglement enables the violation of the causality principle.

Relics, writing, and devotion in early medieval Chelles

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 623-661, November 2026.
The discovery in 1983 of a collection of relics with their medieval identificatory tags in the parish church of Chelles opened new avenues for research on devotional and writing practices in this Frankish royal foundation. This is the first systematic study of the corpus of relic labels that accompanied these sacred objects, particularly of the subset ...
