A Microclimatic Analysis of an Innovative Pavement in Paris: Effects of Pavement Resurfacing, Pavement-Watering and Pavement Ageing

Due to climate change, strong awareness has risen within the City of Paris regarding the need for urban cooling. Among other cooling techniques, pavement-watering has been experimented since 2013. More recently, the LIFE ”Cool & Low Noise Asphalt” project aims to study the microclimatic and thermal performance of three innovative pavements.

Dynamic Testing of Pavements

Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers, 1960
Each time vehicle passes over pavement, surface is deflected and rebounds, creating strain conditions for 0.01 to 0.1 sec; methods used in Netherlands for simulating and studying such dynamic conditions in pavements, base courses, and subgrades; use of single frequency monochromatic wave vibrator and of three point bending machine for determination of ...

Effect of Vehicle-Pavement Interaction on Pavement Response

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1997
The structural response of flexible pavements is studied under different dynamic loads and pavement roughness conditions. The factors affecting dynamic load variability are investigated with regard to pavement-vehicle interaction. Furthermore, the study considers the viscoelastic nature of asphalt concrete and the nonlinearity and plasticity of ...

Evaluation of Pavement Temperatures of Various Pavement Sections

Transportation and Development Institute Congress 2011, 2011
Pavement temperature is an important factor of the urban heat island (UHI) effect and it also plays an important role in pavement design. The objective of this study was to compare the pavement temperatures and heat absorbed for nine different pavement sections placed during construction of Phase IV at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT ...

Perpetual pavement design for flexible pavements in the US

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2006
Long lasting asphalt pavements have been designed and constructed in the United States for many decades. Pavements that have avoided structural failure in the presence of heavy traffic and which require only periodic resurfacing are advantageous in terms of minimizing life cycle cost and user delays.

On the Pavement

2009
“Fyne was not willing to talk; but as I had been already let into the secret, the fair-minded little man recognized that I had some right to information if I insisted on it. And I did insist, after the third game.
