Asphalt Pavement Rehabilitation Treatment

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2005
The condition of pavements in northwestern Pennsylvania was extremely poor in the early 1980s. Several methods of pavement rehabilitation of asphalt-surfaced highways were used to improve pavement performance and the management of pavement investment. This paper analyzes the performance of a number of these sections after 21 years. The results from the

Rehabilitation of Concrete Pavement

Journal of the Construction Division, 1977
This paper describes planning and performance of the restoration of profile of a 7-mile (11.3-km) section of concrete pavement on an interstate highway. Includes data on analysis and execution of traffic control, lane closures, and project planning as well as actual performance of the work.

Management of pavement rehabilitation

European Journal of Operational Research, 1989
Abstract The development of a decision support system (DSS) for pavement management is described. The system contains forecasting and optimization models. The forecasting model is used to predict the condition of stretches of road. The optimization model has the form of a linear programming problem with additional logical constraints.

Pavement Rehabilitation Using Fractured Concrete Pavement Techniques

Airfield and Highway Pavement, 2006
The practice of fracturing rigid pavements in the development of pavement rehabilitation is used quite frequently. However, often the selection of a pavement fracture technique is made randomly, without understanding consequences of the method chosen. In some instances, this results in unsatisfactory performance of the rehabilitation design. This paper

Flexible Pavement Evaluation and Rehabilitation

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1977
A method for evaluating a flexible pavement and designing overlays based upon its in-place strength is presented. Strength is determined through a nondestructive dynamic deflection device trade-named Road Rater. Statistical laws are used to determine the characteristic deflection of the pavement, which is then modified to standard conditions.

Pavement Rehabilitation: Identifying the Need

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1980
A procedure for identifying the need for rehabilitation of city and county streets is presented. Key factors requiring consideration include user related factors, maintenance needs, and protection of the existing pavement investment. A key element in each of these factors, that can be easily measured, is pavement distress types, severity, and quantity.
