Abstract This study investigates Madden‐Julian Oscillation (MJO) convective structures to better understand how the Quasi‐biennial Oscillation (QBO) impacts MJO propagation. We find that during the QBO easterly (QBOE) phase, MJO events exhibit convective features that are highly favorable for propagation.
