Thermodynamic theory of PbTiO3

Journal of Applied Physics, 1987
A phenomenological thermodynamic theory of PbTiO3 was developed using a modified Devonshire form of the elastic Gibbs free energy. The spontaneous strain as a function of temperature was determined from pure sol-gel derived PbTiO3 powder and used with selected data from the literature to determine the coefficients of the energy function.

Absence of a PbTiO3 phase transition in PbTiO3/BaTiO3 superlattices

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2001
Abstract We have performed X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy on three PbTiO 3 /BaTiO 3 superlattices (PTO/BTO) from room temperature (RT) to 600°C. The superlattices were 4000 A thick and the modulation wavelengths Λ, with equally thick layers of PTO and BTO, were 136, 187 and 357 A.

Ferroelectric properties of PbTiO3

Physica, 1962
Abstract A new method for growing single crystals of ferroelectric PbTiO3 is described. A mixture of TiO2, Pb3O4 and KF in the ratio 1 : 2.5 : 6.5 is taken in a platinum crucible and heated to a temperature of about 900°C to 950°C for about 20 hours. The melt is then slowly cooled to room temperature.

Antiferroelectriclike hysteresis loops in PbTiO3/BiFeO3/PbTiO3 sandwich structural film

Solid State Communications, 2008
Abstract PbTiO3/BiFeO3/PbTiO3 sandwich structure has been deposited on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate by sol-gel method annealing at 600 ∘C. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the film was fully crystallized with no impure phase. Antiferroelectriclike hysteresis loop was observed at room temperature under low applied field. Under high applied electric

Effect of excess Pb in PbTiO3 precursors on ferroelectric and fatigue property of sol–gel derived PbTiO3/PbZr0.3Ti0.7O3/PbTiO3 thin films

Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, 2007
A series of Pb(1+x)TiO3/PbZr0.3Ti0.7O3/Pb(1+x)TiO3 (PTO/PZT/PTO) and PbZr0.3Ti0.7O3 (PZT) thin films were prepared by a sol–gel method. Different excess Pb content (x) (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20) were added to the PbTiO3 (PTO) precursors to investigate their effect on ferroelectric and fatigue properties of the PTO/PZT/PTO thin films.

Sol-gel-derived PbTiO3

Journal of Materials Science, 1985
The sol-gel process is a technique which is applicable for forming ceramic materials. In this process, liquid precursor materials are reacted to form a sol which then polymerizes into an inorganic polymeric gel. Advantages of this process over standard powder preparation of ceramics are: purity, homogeneity, control of macro- and micro-structures, and ...

Ion implantation in PbTiO3 films

Journal of Applied Physics, 1992
Lead titanate films prepared by the Sol-Gel process were ion implanted at various temperatures. The structural changes were examined by x-ray diffraction, and the composition distribution was studied by secondary ion mass spectra and Rutherford backscattering.

Surface passivation and electronic structure characterization of PbTiO3 thin films and Pt∕PbTiO3 interfaces

Journal of Applied Physics, 2005
The surface electronic structure, postdeposition surface passivation, and Schottky barrier height in contact with Pt of PbTiO3 thin films on (001) SrTiO3 were investigated by x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS). Angle-resolved XPS analysis shows that an ∼10-Å-thick surface layer which consists of lead carbonate and lead oxide exists on high-quality ...

On planar channeling radiation in PbTiO3

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1991
Abstract Theoretical examination shows that the information on crystal properties and phase transitions in PbTiO 3 may be obtained from the observation of channeling radiation. Measurements of the channeling radiation intensity and the spectral composition may be used to locate the displaced light atoms and to check the ferroelectric models.

Ferroelectric PbTiO3 nanoparticles and their properties

Protection of Metals and Physical Chemistry of Surfaces, 2016
The properties of PbTiO3 nanoparticles (NPs) are studied in the terms of the nanoparticle shell theory and are compared with those of BaTiO3 NPs. The effect of a(Pb) polarizability of the temperature of ferroelectric transition of PbTiO3 is discussed.
