Energy Consumption Modeling in Activated Sludge Process Using Coupling PCA-ANFIS Approach [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2019
The main challenge in Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) by activated sludge process is the reduction of the energy consumption that varies according to the pollutant load of influent.

Prioritization of watershed through morphometric parameters: a PCA-based approach

open access: yesApplied Water Science, 2017
Remote sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques have become very important these days as they aid planners and decision makers to make effective and correct decisions and designs.

ZAP -- Enhanced PCA Sky Subtraction for Integral Field Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce Zurich Atmosphere Purge (ZAP), an approach to sky subtraction based on principal component analysis (PCA) that we have developed for the Multi Unit Spectrographic Explorer (MUSE) integral field spectrograph.

History PCA: A New Algorithm for Streaming PCA

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we propose a new algorithm for streaming principal component analysis. With limited memory, small devices cannot store all the samples in the high-dimensional regime. Streaming principal component analysis aims to find the $k$-dimensional subspace which can explain the most variation of the $d$-dimensional data points that come into ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Effects of anthropogenic activities on nutrient parameters in the North Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Bay of Sığacık/Aegean Sea)

open access: yesOceanological and Hydrobiological Studies, 2022
This study aims to examine the physicochemical parameters of seawater (temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, suspended particulate matter, ammonium-nitrogen, nitrite-nitrogen, nitrate-nitrogen, and phosphate-phosphorus, burnable organic matter in ...

Algorithmic thresholds for tensor PCA [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Probability, 2018
We study the algorithmic thresholds for principal component analysis of Gaussian $k$-tensors with a planted rank-one spike, via Langevin dynamics and gradient descent.

Case of posterior cortical atrophy (PCA) evolved to PCA-CBS [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2018
A 68-year-old lawyer developed insidious disturbances in topographic orientation and apraxia. He underwent a geriatric evaluation, only documenting slight cognitive disturbances, and a 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET), showing mild right-lateralised frontoparietal hypometabolism.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell
