A Flame Detection Method Based on Novel Gradient Features

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Systems, 2018
In this study, we present a novel approach to efficiently detect the flame in multiple scenes in an image. The method uses a set of parametric representation named as Gradient Features (GF), to learn the features of flame color changes in the image ...

PCA of high dimensional random walks with comparison to neural network training [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
One technique to visualize the training of neural networks is to perform PCA on the parameters over the course of training and to project to the subspace spanned by the first few PCA components. In this paper we compare this technique to the PCA of a high dimensional random walk.

An Improved Fault Detection Method based on HSMM: Application to a Chemical Process

open access: yesInternational Journal of Prognostics and Health Management
This paper proposes a fault detection method for multivariate statistical process control. The proposed method combines the Forward-Backward Hidden Semi-Markov Model (HSMM) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). A stochastic automaton was used for multi-

Principal Component Analysis of Fatty Acid Data to Detect Virgin Coconut Oil Adulteration by Palm Olein

open access: yesCORD, 2018
Authentication of virgin coconut oil (VCO) is important to safeguard customers from adulteration practices. A study was carried out to distinguish VCO from VCO adulterated with palm olein (PO) using principal component analysis (PCA) of fatty acid (FA ...

Internal Partial Combinatory Algebras and their Slices [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
A partial combinatory algebra (PCA) is a set equipped with a partial binary operation that models a notion of computability. This paper studies a generalization of PCAs, introduced by W. Stekelenburg, where a PCA is not a set but an object in a given regular category. The corresponding class of categories of assemblies is closed both under taking small

Recent Advances in Single‐Atom Catalyst for Solar Energy Conversion: A Comprehensive Review and Future Outlook

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights the potential of single‐atom catalysts in three key photocatalytic reactions: the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), nitrogen reduction reaction for ammonia synthesis, and carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR) for chemical fuels.

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.
