PCBN Tool Wear for Hard Materials Based on Thermodynamics Principals [PDF]
The temperature rise exceeds over 1000°C in cutting process while working with PCBN tools high speed machining. This intense temperature results in wearing of tools and thus diffusion and oxidation are mainly responsible for wearing. This paper proposes the oxidation and diffusion wearing for PCBN cutting tools and analysis has been carried out ...

Characterisation of the relationship between surface texture and surface integrity of superalloy components machined by grinding [PDF]
The surface texture of a machined component is influenced largely by the processing parameters used during machining and hence, there is a relationship between both the formation of the surface texture and surface integrity of the machined component.

High speed turning of Inconel 718 using PVD-coated PCBN tools [PDF]
Abstract Five different coatings and two PCBN grades were evaluated when high speed turning Inconel 718. Tool life was 40% higher when employing TiSiN coated over uncoated inserts at 200 m/min. When operating at 300–450 m/min however, coatings provided no appreciable benefit.
