Advanced Electrode Materials for Efficient Hydrogen Production in Protonic Ceramic Electrolysis Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Protonic ceramic electrolysis cells (PCECs) are a promising intermediate‐temperature hydrogen production technology, leveraging high proton conductivity in electrolytes yet constrained by insufficient catalytic activity and interfacial instability in fuel/air electrodes. This review systematically categorizes advanced electrode materials and critically

Investigation of Feasible Pavement Design Alternatives for WisDOT [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The current pavement design and selection process of WisDOT for all new pavements or reconstructions of existing pavement structures provides for the design of one asphaltic concrete (AC) and one portland cement concrete (PCC) pavement alternative.

The reversal effect of prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC), activated PCC and recombinant activated factor VII against anticoagulation of Xa inhibitor

open access: yesThrombosis Journal, 2017
BackgroundAn increasing number of patients are treated with direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs), but the optimal way to reverse the anticoagulant effect is not known.

Photothermally Powered 3D Microgels Mechanically Regulate Mesenchymal Stem Cells Under Anisotropic Force

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The photothermally powered microgel is designed to mechanically train mesenchymal stem cells using spatially patterned exogenous forces in three‐dimensional (3D) workspaces. When microgels are activated selectively via photothermal actuation, locally confined tens of nN forces are exerted on cells, triggering osteogenic differentiation in encapsulated ...

Caspases as prognostic markers and mortality predictors in acute organophosphorus poisoning

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, 2020
Background Organophosphorus (OP) compounds have been widely available for decades in agriculture for crop protection and as cheap pest controllers, which increases the rate of exposure and poisoning cases. Using serum cholinesterase as prognostic markers

Counterintuitive Fluorescence Blue Shift in Symmetry Breaking Dicationic Bis(indolium) with Two‐Photon Absorption Properties for NIR Living Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Highly water‐soluble dicationic bis(indolium) dyes have been prepared, showing excellent two‐photon absorption and light emission. Their fluorescence behavior discloses an unusual increasing blue shift with increasing solvent polarity, which, in parallel, is beneficial for enhanced detection in biological media.

The role of tumor model in magnetic targeting of magnetosomes and ultramagnetic liposomes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The combined passive and active targeting of tumoral tissue remains an active and relevant cancer research field. Here, we exploit the properties of two highly magnetic nanomaterials, magnetosomes and ultramagnetic liposomes, in order to magnetically ...
