High-Temperature Structural Analysis of a Lab-Scale Alloy 800HT PCHE

Key Engineering Materials, 2016
The IHX (Intermediate Heat Exchanger) of a VHTR (Very High Temperature Reactor) transfers 950°C heat generated from the VHTR to a hydrogen production plant. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has manufactured a lab-scale Alloy 800HT PCHE (Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger) prototype under consideration as a candidate of the IHX (Intermediate Heat ...

Comprehensive performance comparison of airfoil fin PCHEs with NACA 00XX series airfoil

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2017
Abstract Printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) can be used in supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO 2 ) Brayton cycle. The present study compares NACA 0020 airfoil fin PCHE with conventional zigzag PCHE by numerical analysis. Pressure drop of the former has a striking reduction while maintaining excellent heat transfer performance.
