Characterisation of PCV-2 isolates from Spain, Germany and France.
Virus Research, 2000The new isolated circovirus variant PCV-2 is discussed to be the etiological agent of a new emerging swine disease with a variable morbidity and high lethality, postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS). PMWS has been diagnosed in North America and West Europe.

Genetic typing of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) isolates from Slovakia.
Research in Veterinary Science, 2011Of 120 clinical specimens obtained from pigs bred on 28 PMWS-affected farms in Slovakia, porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) was detected by single PCR in 77 samples. A short 224 bp fragment of ORF2 was used for preliminary grouping of isolates by phylogenetic analysis.

Benefits of PCV‐2 vaccination in pigs
Veterinary Record, 2015ANIMAL health remains under constant threat from exotic and emerging diseases. In Northern Europe, the emergence of Schmallenberg virus (SBV) in 2011 provided a particularly dramatic example of this (Beer and others 2013), but there are many other diseases to consider.

Molecular diversity of Brazilian strains of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2)
Research in Veterinary Science, 2008Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) is associated with a broad range of syndromes. In this study, eight pig tissue samples from two Brazilian states were analyzed using six PCR primer pairs amplifying a 1705-bp fragment of the PCV-2 genome. The NJ distance-based method was used for the phylogenetic analysis with the eight field strains herein, 15 GenBank ...

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) can cause postweaning, multisystemic wasting syndrome in pigs, which leads to enormous losses in the swine industry worldwide. Here, a genetically engineered Lactococcus strain expressing the main protective antigen of PCV2, the Cap protein, was developed to act against PCV2 infection as an oral vaccine.Expression of ...

Virus Location and Lymphocyte Apoptosis in Lymph Nodes of Piglets Infected with PCV-2
Agricultural Sciences in China, 2008The present study has been performed to understand the location of the virus, type of apoptotic cells, and their relation to lymph nodes of piglets infected with porcine circovirus type II (PCV-2). Nine 32-day-old conventional piglets free of infection with PCV-2 were used, and distributed into three groups: control group (n = 3), piglets inoculated ...
