Exciton fine structure and spin decoherence in monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides
We study the neutral exciton energy spectrum fine structure and its spin dephasing in transition metal dichalcogenides such as MoS$_2$. The interaction of the mechanical exciton with its macroscopic longitudinal electric field is taken into account.

Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae vaccination at or shortly before weaning under field conditions : a randomised efficacy trial [PDF]
This study assessed the efficacy of two different Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae vaccination programmes in relation to the time of weaning. Eight hundred and twenty-eight piglets were randomly divided into three groups: group V1 was vaccinated three days ...

Direct measure of the exciton formation in quantum wells from time resolved interband luminescence [PDF]
We present the results of a detailed time resolved luminescence study carried out on a very high quality InGaAs quantum well sample where the contributions at the energy of the exciton and at the band edge can be clearly separated.

Characterisation of porcine circovirus type 2 in porcine circovirus disease cases in England and Wales [PDF]
Confirmed cases of porcine circovirus disease (PCVD) in Great Britain have shown a steady decline since the availability of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccines. However, PCVD is still occasionally diagnosed.

Resonant hyper-Raman scattering in spherical quantum dots
A theoretical model of resonant hyper-Raman scattering by an ensemble of spherical semiconductor quantum dots has been developed. The electronic intermediate states are described as Wannier-Mott excitons in the framework of the envelope function ...

Suitability and limitations of portion-specific abattoir data as part of an early warning system for emerging diseases of swine in Ontario [PDF]
Background Abattoir data have the potential to provide information for geospatial disease surveillance applications, but the quality of the data and utility for detecting disease outbreaks is not well understood.

Optoelectronics of Inverted Type-I CdS/CdSe Core/Crown Quantum Ring
Inverted type-I heterostructure core/crown quantum rings (QRs) are quantum-efficient luminophores, whose spectral characteristics are highly tunable. Here, we study the optoelectronic properties of type-I core/crown CdS/CdSe QRs in the zincblende phase -
