Viscosity Solutions for a System of Integro-PDEs and Connections to Optimal Switching and Control of Jump-Diffusion Processes [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Mathematics and Optimization, 2009
We develop a viscosity solution theory for a system of nonlinear degenerate parabolic integro-partial differential equations (IPDEs) related to stochastic optimal switching and control problems or stochastic games. In the case of stochastic optimal switching and control, we prove via dynamic programming methods that the value function is a viscosity ...

Numerical Analysis of Fourier Finite Volume Element Method for Dirichlet Boundary Optimal Control Problems Governed by Elliptic PDEs on Complex Connected Domains

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
In this research, we investigate an optimal control problem governed by elliptic PDEs with Dirichlet boundary conditions on complex connected domains, which can be utilized to model the cooling process of concrete dam pouring. A new convergence result for two-dimensional Dirichlet boundary control is proven with the Fourier finite volume element method.

Electrophysiological Data and the Biophysical Modelling of Local Cortical Circuits

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2014
This paper shows how recordings of gamma oscillations – under different experimental conditions or from different subjects – can be combined with a class of population models called neural fields and dynamic causal modeling (DCM) to distinguish among ...

“It Is Much Safer to Be Sparse than Connected”: Safe Control of Robotic Swarm Density Dynamics with PDE Optimization with State Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
This paper introduces a safety‐critical optimization‐based control strategy that leverages control Lyapunov and control barrier functions to guide the spatial density of robotic swarms governed by the Fokker–Planck equation to a predefined target distribution.
