Duplication of vas genes is universally observed in aphids, and phylogenetic analysis indicates that this event predates the divergence of Aphididae and Phylloxeridae. Ap‐vas1 is germline‐specific, whereas Ap‐vas2–4 exhibit somatic expression, indicating functional divergence during aphid embryogenesis.

THE PHENOLOGY AND DISTRIBUTION OF APHIDS IN CALIFORNIA ALFALFA AS MODIFIED BY LADYBIRD BEETLE PREDATION (COLEOPTERA: COCCINELLIDAE) [PDF]
The phenologies and distributions of pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris)), blue alfalfa aphid (A. kondoi (Shinji)), and spotted alfalfa aphid (Therioaphis maculata (Buckton)) were intensively studied in California alfalfa.

RNAi efficiency, systemic properties, and novel delivery methods for pest insect control : what we know so far [PDF]
In recent years, the research on the potential of using RNA interference (RNAi) to suppress crop pests has made an outstanding growth. However, given the variability of RNAi efficiency that is observed in many insects, the development of novel approaches

Pea aphids (Acyrthosiphon pisum) have been reported to produce winged offspring in the presence of predatory ladybirds. These offspring may leave host plants by flight after they have developed into winged adults.

Transcriptomic and DNA Methylation Profiles of Alternative Aphid Morphs and Genotypes
Graph showing the correlation between differentially expressed genes and differentially methylated genes. There is no correlation between gene expression and DNA methylation level in pea aphid polyphenism. ABSTRACT Pea aphids can develop alternative morphs when exposed to stressful conditions, showing differences between genotypes in their stress ...

Combining next-generation sequencing strategies for rapid molecular resource development from an invasive aphid species, Aphis glycines. [PDF]
Aphids are one of the most important insect taxa in terms of ecology, evolutionary biology, genetics and genomics, and interactions with endosymbionts. Additionally, many aphids are serious pest species of agricultural and horticultural plants.

ABSTRACT The Australian Crop Mirid (ACM), Sidnia kinbergi Stål (Hemiptera: Miridae), is highly polyphagous and is endemic to Australia. It is widely distributed across Australia and New Zealand and feeds on a wide range of agricultural crops. ACM has traditionally been a pest of forage crops and legumes but has recently emerged as a key pest of several

The aphid alarm pheromone is known to trigger wing induction in pea aphids (Acyrthosiphon pisum). In reaction to alarm pheromone, aphids drop off the plant or walk away.
