Probabilities of exceedance for prescribed peak ground accelerations (PGA) at selected southern African locations

Tectonophysics, 1989
Abstract The direct approach of Shapira a for estimating the probability of a defined horizontal peak ground acceleration (PGA) being exceeded at a specified location has been applied to fourteen cities in southern Africa. The analysis is based on the known seismic history of the region (south of 22° S) since the beginning of the 19th century, and

An empirical attenuation model of the peak ground acceleration (PGA) in the near field of a strong earthquake

Natural Hazards, 2020
Empirical methods are commonly employed to predict the PGA distribution of an earthquake and are widely used. However, current empirical methods assume the seismic source to be a point source, a line source, or a plane source, where the energy is concentrated and released uniformly.

Seismic Hazard in terms of Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) for coast of Calicut, State of Kerala (INDIA)

Seismic hazard assessment involves quantitatively estimating ground shaking at site. There are two main approaches for estimating seismic hazard, Deterministic seismic hazard assessment (DSHA) and Probabilistic seismic hazard assessment (PSHA). In the present investigation DSHA is used, it relies on the worst-case scenario earthquake.

ANALISIS NILAI PGA (PEAK GROUND ACCELERATION) MENGGUNAKAN METODE GUTTENBERG DAN RICHTER DI KABUPATEN PANDEGLANG (STUDI KASUS GEMPA BANTEN TAHUN 2008-2018)

Delta: Journal of Physics, 2023
