Peak particle velocity data acquisition for monitoring blast induced earthquakes in quarry sites [PDF]
The peak particle velocity datasets recorded during quarry blasts in the neighborhood villages and towns in Ibadan and Abeokuta were processed and analyzed in order to recommend a safe blast design for each of the quarries.

Activation of the gluteus maximus during performance of the back squat, split squat and barbell hip thrust and the relationship with maximal sprinting [PDF]
The purpose of this research was to compare muscle activation of the gluteus maximus and ground reaction force between the barbell hip thrust, back squat, and split squat and to determine the relationship between these outcomes and vertical and ...

The Seismic Behavior of Buildings with Flat Slab Systems under Near-Fault Ground Motions
It is well known that structural displacement or ductility demands of structures subjected to near-fault ground motions are generally greater than ordinary ground motions.

Peak ground velocity ShakeMaps derived from geodetic slip models [PDF]
SUMMARY We develop a methodology to derive fast and reliable peak ground velocity (PGV) ShakeMaps from kinematic finite-source models of earthquake rupture inferred from geodetic static displacements. The temporal variations in slip on the fault are based on the simple assumption that larger slip takes longer time to accumulate.

Analysis of Water Landing Overload of the Double-stepped Wing-in-ground Aircraft
During the landing process of wing-in-ground aircraft, the impact caused by the landing of broken steps is likely to lead to the buckling or damage of the structural surface. The Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE)finite element method is utilized to ...

Scaling properties of velocity and temperature spectra above the surface friction layer in a convective atmospheric boundary layer [PDF]
International audienceWe report velocity and temperature spectra measured at nine levels from 1.42 meters up to 25.7 m over a smooth playa in Western Utah. Data are from highly convective conditions when the magnitude of the Obukhov length (our proxy for

Slip pulse and resonance of the Kathmandu basin during the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, Nepal. [PDF]
Detailed geodetic imaging of earthquake ruptures enhances our understanding of earthquake physics and associated ground shaking. The 25 April 2015 moment magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Gorkha, Nepal was the first large continental megathrust rupture to have

Monte Cristo Range earthquake May 15, 2020: calculated intensity and macroseismic field
Relevance. When studying the seismic effect of the occurred earthquake, the collected macroseismic data are of great importance. To design the most reliable map of the macroseismic field, it’s necessary to have the sufficient number of such data, which ...

Progress on the earthquake early warning and shakemaps system using low-cost sensors in Taiwan
Building an earthquake early warning (EEW) network requires the installation of seismic instruments around the seismogenic zone. Using low-cost sensors to build a seismic network for EEW and to generate shakemaps is a cost-effective way in the field of ...
