Peak ground velocity ShakeMaps derived from geodetic slip models [PDF]
SUMMARY We develop a methodology to derive fast and reliable peak ground velocity (PGV) ShakeMaps from kinematic finite-source models of earthquake rupture inferred from geodetic static displacements. The temporal variations in slip on the fault are based on the simple assumption that larger slip takes longer time to accumulate.

Performance evaluation of Wied Dalam (WDD) seismic station in Malta [PDF]
The continual operation of a permanent seismograph, now exceeding a couple of decades in some cases, naturally involves changes of hardware and software over time.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Most mines choose the drilling and blasting method which has the characteristics of being a cheap and efficient method to fragment rock mass, but blast-induced ground vibration damages the surrounding rock mass and structure and is a drawback. To predict,

Peak ground velocity from dense seismic array in southern California
The study explores the variability in peak ground velocity for >1000 nodal seismometers located in a small area on an active fault. The PGV values are derived from the 30 waveform trace for the station listed in the ZG network deployed from 07 May ...

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

A Designer’s Approach for Estimation of Nuclear-Air-Blast-Induced Ground Motion
A reliable estimate of free-field ground displacement induced by nuclear-air-blast is required for design of underground strategic structures. A generalized pseudostatic formulation is proposed to estimate nuclear-air-blast-induced ground displacement ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
