Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Calculation of Peak Particle Velocity Caused by Blasting Vibration in Step Topography

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Technological Sciences, 2018
High ground vibrations not only adversely affect the integrity of the structures in a mine area but also create inconvenience for the nearby population. In order to protect the Sanyou Mine slope in Tangshan, China from blasting vibration, the peak particle velocity in step topography must be accurately calculated. At present, the reflection coefficient

Productivity‐Driven Optimization of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Parameters for IN718 Superalloy: Process Control, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how optimizing laser power, scanning speed, and hatching distance in laser powder bed fusion can boost the productivity of Inconel 718 manufacturing by up to 29% while maintaining mechanical integrity. The work delivers a validated process window and cost–time analysis, offering industry‐ready guidelines for efficient additive ...

Collective motion of pulsating active particles in confined structures

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
The collective motion of pulsating active particles with periodic size contraction is investigated in a two-dimensional asymmetric channel. Our findings reveal that changes in particle size can act as a non-equilibrium driving force, disrupting the ...

Research on the Vibration Response of High-Rise Buildings under Blasting Load

open access: yesMathematics
The vibration caused by blasting load may result in damage to high-rise buildings. In view of this consideration, an investigation of the vibration law was conducted in the context of an actual engineering project.

3D Particle Tracking Velocimetry Method: Advances and Error Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A full three-dimensional particle tracking system was developed and tested. By using three separate CCDs placed at the vertices of an equilateral triangle, the threedimensional location of particles can be determined.

Anisotropic dynamics in a shaken granular dimer gas experiment

open access: yes, 2004
The dynamics, velocity fluctuations, and particle-plate interactions for a 2D granular gas of shaken, non-spherical particles are studied experimentally. The experiment consists of a horizontal plate that is vertically oscillated to drive the dynamics of

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Particle peak velocity prediction based on risk-oriented hybrid ensemble learning

open access: yes
Abstract In blasting engineering, accurate prediction of peak particle velocity ( PPV ) is vital for the safety of surrounding structures. In machine-learning-based PPV prediction, symmetric loss functions (e.g., MSE) are typically used as the ...

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.
