Abstract Sequences with low autocorrelation sidelobes has applications in various fields like wireless communications, radar, sonar, cryptography to name a few. In this paper, we propose an approach to construct sequences, in particular unimodular sequences, by directly minimizing the peak sidelobe level (PSL) metric.

Designing Unimodular Sequence With Low Peak of Sidelobe Level of Local Ambiguity Function
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2019This paper considers the problem of designing unimodular sequence with low peak of sidelobe level of local ambiguity function. The optimization problem is difficult because of the mixed nonconvex unimodulus and highly nonlinear fourth-order polynomial-like constraints.

Graph Traversal Applied to Search for Optimal Minimum Peak Sidelobe Level Binary Sequences
2019 IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing (ICSIDP), 2019Binary sequences with low aperiodic autocorrelation levels are widely used in improving the ability of anti-intercept and detection of small targets of radar systems. Searching for optimal binary sequences is an intractable problem due to its extremely high complexity.

Steepest descent method for minimizing the peak sidelobe level of hopped-frequency waveform
2017 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf), 2017Hopped-frequency waveform achieves high range resolution by transmitting a burst of narrowband pulses spanning the desired bandwidth. As its frequencies are irregularly or even sparsely distributed, hopped-frequency waveform could obtain a wider bandwidth with fixed pulses number and shows stronger anti-jamming ability than the linear stepped-frequency

Synthesis of linear antenna array using genetic algorithm to reduce peak sidelobe level
2015 9th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO), 2015In antenna design, it is important to optimize the amplitude weights of a linear antenna array to achieve low peak sidelobe level (PSLL). This paper deals with a linear inequality constraint on array factor to get maximum response in look direction and reduced sidelobe levels in a specified stop band region.

Bounding the Peak Sidelobe Level of Binary Sequences of All Lengths
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2016Improving upon 2010 results of Alon et al. , it was shown in 2014 by Schmidt that asymptotically, almost all binary sequences of length $n$ have peak sidelobe level close to $({2n\log n})^{1/2}\vphantom {\sum ^{R^{R}}}$ . One specific result of Alon et al.

A New Search for Optimal Binary Arrays with Minimum Peak Sidelobe Levels
2005The group structure of the 2-dimensional sidelobe-invariant transformations for binary arrays is characterized. The design of an efficient exhaustive backtracking search algorithm, which exploits such group structure to reduce the search space and, in the meantime, applies the partially determined autocorrelation values as backtracking conditions, is ...

Thinning algorithm for reducing peak sidelobe levels of discrete rectangular planar arrays
1988 IEEE AP-S. International Symposium, Antennas and Propagation, 2003The proposed thinning algorithm provides a low-cost approach to control peak sidelobe levels of a uniformly fed antenna array in the transmit mode. The algorithm quantizes a desired taper to be used on a uniformly spaced planar array and evaluates the feasibility of thinning the array by terminating elements.

Phase-Only Control of Peak Sidelobe Level and Pattern Nulls Using Iterative Phase Perturbations
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2019Minimization of the maximum sidelobe level for a given array geometry, amplitude distribution, and nulling sectors by phase-only adjustment of the element coefficients is studied. Nonlinear optimization problem for phase distribution is solved using a novel iterative convex optimization algorithm, which includes mutual coupling effects and exploits ...
