Typical peak sidelobe level of binary sequences [PDF]
For a binary sequence Sn = {si: i=1,2,...,n} ? {±1}n, n > 1, the peak sidelobe level (PSL) is defined as M(Sn)=maxk=1,2,...,n-1|?i=1 n-kSiSi+k|. It is shown that the distribution of M(Sn) is strongly concentrated, and asymptotically almost surely ?(Sn)=(M(Sn))/?(n In n) ? [1-o(1),?2].

This study exploits high-order p-norm to uniformly represent the peak sidelobe level (PSL) and integrated sidelobe level (ISL) commonly used in waveform optimization, and presents a unified optimization objective function by considering the requirement ...

Robust Adaptive Transmit Beamforming under the Constraint of Low Peak-to-Average Ratio
In radar detection, in order to make the beam have variable directivity, a Capon beamformer is usually used. Although this traditional beamformer enjoys both high resolution and good interference suppression, it usually leads to high sidelobe and is ...

Comparing the effect of aperture extension on the peak sidelobe level of sparse arrays [PDF]
This paper compares the performance of Uniform Linear Arrays (ULA), Minimum Redundancy Arrays (MRA) and Co-prime Sensor Arrays (CSA) in terms of the Peak Sidelobe Level (PSL) of their beampatterns. A ULA distributes its sensor elements equidistantly on a line, achieving a PSL of -13.5dB [Van Trees, 2002]. Sparse arrays span the equivalent aperture as a

Hybrid Constructions of Binary Sequences With Low Autocorrelation Sideobes
In this work, a classical problem of the digital sequence design, or more precisely, finding binary sequences with optimal peak sidelobe level (PSL), is revisited.

The Peak Sidelobe Level of Families of Binary Sequences
Summary: A numerical investigation is presented for the peak sidelobe level (PSL) of Legendre sequences, maximal length shift register sequences (\(m\)-sequences), and Rudin-Shapiro sequences. The PSL gives an alternative to the merit factor for measuring the collective smallness of the aperiodic autocorrelations of a binary sequence. The growth of the

Peak Sidelobe Level Based Waveform Optimization for OFDM Joint Radar-Communications [PDF]
We propose a novel joint radar communication waveform design method based on OFDM spectrum allocation to trade off radar and communication performance. The proposed approach combines the water filling optimization to maximize the communication rate for slow fading channels with windowing to reduce pulse compression peak sidelobe level (PSL) for the ...
