Diel transcriptional response of a California Current plankton microbiome to light, low iron, and enduring viral infection. [PDF]
Phytoplankton and associated microbial communities provide organic carbon to oceanic food webs and drive ecosystem dynamics. However, capturing those dynamics is challenging. Here, an in situ, semi-Lagrangian, robotic sampler profiled pelagic microbes at

Application status and prospect of low carbon technology in iron and steel industry
China proposes to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutralization by 2030 and 2060, respectively. As a heavily carbon-based fuel industry, the carbon dioxide emission of the iron and steel industry is lower than that of the power and transportation ...

Self-Scheduling Virtual Power Plant for Peak Management
An efficient and reliable management system for a cluster of distributed energy resources (DERs) is essential for the sustainable and cost-effective peak management (PM) operation of the power grid. The virtual power plant (VPP) provides an efficient way to manage a variety of DERs for the PM process. This paper proposes a VPP framework for PM of local

Short-term peak shaving operation for multiple power grids with pumped storage power plants
Abstract The East China Power Grid (ECPG) is the biggest regional power grid in China. It has the biggest installed capacity of pumped storage power plants (PSPPs) and is responsible to coordinate the operation of its five provincial power grids. A recent challenge of coordinating operations is using PSPPs to absorb surplus energy during off-peak ...

Impurity transport in temperature gradient driven turbulence [PDF]
In the present paper the transport of impurities driven by trapped electron (TE) mode turbulence is studied. Non-linear (NL) gyrokinetic simulations using the code GENE are compared with results from quasilinear (QL) gyrokinetic simulations and a ...

Peaking water power plant powered by mine water
A water power plant in a mine is an innovative solution that can use rainwater, underground and industrial water collected in mines to produce electricity. The process involves pumping water to a higher level and then draining it down, which drives turbines that generate electricity.

Particle tower technology applied to metallurgic plants and peak-time boosting of steam power plants [PDF]
Using solar tower technology with ceramic particles as heat transfer and storage medium to preheat scrap for induction furnaces in foundries provides solar generated heat to save electricity. With such a system an unsubsidized payback time of only 4 years is achieved for a 70000t/a foundry in Brazil.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...
