Fatigue crack growth in inhomogeneous steel components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Massive low-alloy high-strength steel components often exhibit microstructure variations from surface to core due to decreasing cooling rates when moving towards the interior. Since different steel constituents exhibit different fatigue crack growth (FCG)

Nature of delamination cracks in pearlitic steels

open access: yesScripta Materialia, 2016
AbstractWire-drawn fully pearlitic steel was twisted at room temperature. As a result, a delamination crack propagated along the longitudinal direction of the wire. Backscattered electron and transmission electron microscopy images indicated that the cementite lamellae beneath the delamination crack had vanished.

Effect of alloying on mechanical properties of as cast ferritic nodular cast irons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The development of low temperature applications for ferritic nodular cast irons calls for improved materials in the as cast state, e.g. for off-shore windmills components.

Effect of hydrogen embrittlement on the microstructures of electroplated steel alloy 4130

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2018
In this work, the behavior of hydrogen embrittlement and corrosion of nickel, cadmium and copper electroplating steel alloy 4130 were examined. The microstructures of exposed steel 4130 characterized by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning ...

Severe Wear of Pearlitic Steel Weld Metal

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Welding Society, 1958
A study has been made of the severe wear of pearlitic steel weld metal, rubbing on itself, at a speed of 2.5cm/s under a load of 40kg, in unlubricated conditions. In this range of the test conditions, once equilibrium surface conditions are estabiished, the relation-ship W=KL/Pm is obeyed, where W is the wear rate, L is the load, and Pm is the flow ...

Influence of Microstructure on Strength and Ductility in Fully Pearlitic Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2016
This article deals with the relationship between the microstructure and both strength and ductility in eutectoid pearlitic steel. It is seen how standard mechanical properties and fracture micromechanisms are affected by heat treatment and the resulting ...

Modeling of Phase Transformation Kinetics of Plain Carbon Steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A mathematical model have been generated which incorporates the concept of isothermal/isokinetic steps in close association with the cooling curve to predict the transformation kinetics under continuous cooling conditions.

INFLUENCE OF DEFORMATION IN THE LINE OF WIRE MILL 150 ON DISPERSION OF PEARLITE OF STEEL 80K

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2014
Peculiarities of formation and distribution of pearlitic structure of steel 80K in a blank and after deformation in various areas of wire mill (in semi-finished rolled products and rolled wire) are established.
