Spirodiepoxide-based cascade strategies to the upper hemisphere of pectenotoxin-4

open access: yes, 2014
Disclosed are studies on allene oxidations and functionally diverse motif. The utilization of spirodiepoxide based methodologies in the synthesis of highly functionalized α-tetrahydrofuranyl-α'-hydroxy ketones led to a cascade strategy to the upper ...

A novel approach to the CDE ring system of pectenotoxin-4 triggered by VO(acac)(2)-induced epoxy-acetalization.

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2009
A novel approach to the CDE fragment of pectenotoxin-4 is described wherein the bicyclic acetal is constructed via a cascade cyclization induced by VO(acac)2 epoxidation of a homoallylic ...

Unambiguous Identification of Pectenotoxin-1 and Distribution of Pectenotoxins in Plankton from the North Sea

Toxicon, 2008
Lipophilic phycotoxins in size-fractionated plankton net tows (20 mum mesh-size) were measured on-board during a month-long oceanographic cruise in North Sea coastal waters. Tandem mass spectrometry coupled to liquid chromatography (LC-MS/MS) was employed for the detection and quantification of a broad spectrum of known and putative phycotoxins.

Identification of fatty acid esters of pectenotoxin-2 seco acid in blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) from Ireland.

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006
Pectenotoxins from marine dinoflagellates of the genus Dinophysis are rapidly hydrolyzed by many shellfish to give pectenotoxin-2 seco acid, which isomerizes to 7-epi-pectenotoxin-2 seco acid. Three series of fatty acid esters of pectenotoxin-2 seco acid

Synthesis of the ABC Fragment of the Pectenotoxins

Organic Letters, 2005
[reaction: see text] A highly stereocontrolled synthesis of the C1-C16 ABC spiroacetal-containing fragment 5 of PTX7 (4) has been achieved. Appendage of the C ring to the AB fragment involved Wittig reaction of spiroacetal aldehyde 8 with a stabilized ylide 9 followed by displacement of allylic iodide 27 with a lithium acetylide to afford enyne 7 ...

Identification and Characterization of Pectenotoxin (PTX) 4 and PTX7 as Spiroketal Stereoisomers of Two Previously Reported Pectenotoxins

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1998
Pectenotoxins (PTXs) isolated from the scallop Patinopecten yessoensis were shown to be involved in an episode of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP). A total of eight analogues (PTX1-PTX7 and PTX10) have been isolated to date, and the structures of four of these analogues (PTX1, PTX2, PTX3, and PTX6) have already been elucidated.

Yessotoxins and Pectenotoxins

2014
Yessotoxin (YTX) and its analogs are a group of more than 100 polyether compounds produced by several species of dinoflagellates genera Gonyaulax, Protoceratium, and Lingulodinium and originally isolated from Patinopecten yessoensis. Some effect of YTX over protein kinase C translocation was reported in primary cortical neurons. YTXs often coexist with
