Effects of pectenotoxin‐1 on liver cells in vitro
Natural Toxins, 1994AbstractThe effects of pectenotoxin‐I (PTX1), a nondiarrheagenic toxin from mussels, on liver cells were investigated by fluorescence microscopy. The in vitro application of PTX1, to these cells induced reduction in number and loss in radial arrangement of microtubules.

Studies of diarrhetic activity on pectenotoxin-6 in the mouse and rat
Toxicon, 2008Diarrhetic activity of pectenotoxin-6 (PTX6), a shellfish contaminant in Japanese scallops (Patinopecten yessoensis), was studied in vivo. Mice gavaged with 5mg/kg PTX6 did not show diarrhea or fluid secretion, and no prominent pathological changes were observed.

We have developed a simple and effective method for isolating pectenotoxin-2 (PTX-2) from Dinophysis cells collected from a natural bloom. A two-step extraction procedure followed by two column chromatography steps produced PTX-2 in high purity suitable for use as an analytical standard and for toxicological studies.

Access to Both Anomers of Pectenotoxin Spiroketals by Kinetic Spiroketalization
Organic Letters, 2004[structure: see text] A concise synthesis of both AB ring spiroisomers of the pectenotoxins is described. The nonanomeric AB spiroketal ring system of the pectenotoxins-1, -2, -3, and -6 is formed under very mild, kinetic spiroketalization conditions, along with the anomeric isomer.

Enzymatic hydrolysis of esterified diarrhetic shellfish poisoning toxins and pectenotoxins
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2007Okadaic acid (OA) and dinophysistoxins-1 and -2 (DTX1, DTX2), the toxins responsible for incidents of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP), can occur as complex mixtures of ester derivatives in both plankton and shellfish. Alkaline hydrolysis is usually employed to release parent OA/DTX toxins, and analyses are conducted before and after hydrolysis to ...

Synthesis of the common left-half part of pectenotoxins
Tetrahedron Letters, 2005Abstract The common left-half [C31–C33(OC1–C7)–C40] part of pectenotoxins has been synthesized convergently from the C31–C35, C36–C40, and C1–C7 parts. The C31–C35 part, prepared via a new route shorter than our previous route, was coupled with the C36–C40 part through reductive lithiation and addition reactions to give an adduct stereoselectively ...
