Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), Lepidoptera, Gelechiidae

open access: yes, 1995

Management of Pink Bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) in Cotton

Indian Journal of Entomology, 2022
Demonstrations were conducted to assess the damage potential caused by the pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) and its management strategies were worked out through technology demonstration and check (farmer’s practice). Results revealed that >10% rosette flowers were observed, starting from 36th standard meteorological week (SMW) up ...

Oviposition preference of pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella on cotton

Animal Biology, 2022
Abstract The effect of four cultivated species of cotton on the oviposition behaviour and/or preference of pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella was studied under laboratory conditions. Blends of volatile organic compounds from squares of all four species of cotton (Gossypium arboreum, G. herbaceum, G. hirsutum, G.

Hibernation of Pectinophora Gossypiella in Texas

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1931
The results of three years studies on the hibernation of the pink bollworm are presented. It was found that in the cotton field the greatest number of the over-wintering stages were in bolls on the stalks, although a considerable number were in shed forms or cocoons in trash on the surface of the ground.

Photoperiod manipulation to control diapause in the pink bollworm,Pectinophora gossypiella

Experientia, 1970

A cytoplasmic-polyhedrosis virus, Smithiavirus pectinophorae sp. n. of the pink bollworm, pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders)

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1966
Abstract A new species of cytoplasmic-polyhedrosis virus, Smithiavirus pectinophorae sp. n. is described from the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders). The LD 50 was 2500 polyhedral inclusion bodies (PIB)/mm 2 of available diet surface.

Analysis of Diapause Induction and Termination in Pectinophora gossypiella in Brazil

Environmental Entomology, 1986
A model for pink bollworm (PBW) diapause in response to decreasing photoperiod and fluctuating temperatures developed in California using a wild Arizona biotype is used to explain diapause induction, termination, and adult flight phenology of PBW under Brazilian conditions.

Haemocytes of the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella, during larval development and diapause

Journal of Insect Physiology, 1974
Abstract Seven types of haemocytes were observed in the last larval instar of the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders): prohaemocytes, plasmatocytes, granular haemocytes, spherule cells, adipohaemocytes, oenocytoids, and podocytes. Total and differential haemocyte counts made from diapausing and non-diapausing larvae showed that during ...

A diapause associated protein of the pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella saunders

Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 1992
AbstractA diapause associated protein was electrophoretically isolated from the hemolymph of diapausing last instar larvae of the pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella. This protein (Mr ∼490,000, glycolipoprotein) was given the name Pectinophora diapause protein (PDP). It is composed of one subunit (Mr 103,000).
