Single-Pedestrian Detection Aided by Two-Pedestrian Detection
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2015In this paper, we address the challenging problem of detecting pedestrians who appear in groups. A new approach is proposed for single-pedestrian detection aided by two-pedestrian detection. A mixture model of two-pedestrian detectors is designed to capture the unique visual cues which are formed by nearby pedestrians but cannot be captured by single ...

Improving pedestrian detection
2016 International Conference on Image and Vision Computing New Zealand (IVCNZ), 2016Pedestrian detection is an active problem in computer vision research, with applications in robotics, self-driving cars and surveillance. It involves generating bounding boxes to indicate the location of every pedestrian in an input image. This paper proposes a method to augment a basic pedestrian detector with a Convolutional Neural Network.

Autonomous pedestrian detection
AFRICON 2015, 2015In this paper we present a method of detecting and tracking pedestrians from a moving vehicle. We accomplish this by using Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as a detector and two tracking algorithms, the Kalman filter and the particle filter. The Kalman filter tracks the pedestrians on the road in-front of the vehicle.

Trainable pedestrian detection
Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003Robust, fast object detection systems are critical to the success of next-generation automotive vision systems. An important criteria is that the detection system be easily configurable to a new domain or environment. In this paper, we present work on a general object detection system that can be trained to detect different types of objects; we focus ...
