Relationships among quantitative traits in F3, F4 and F5 wheat hybrids obtained by pedigree and bulk selection [PDF]
Relationships among quantitative traits of wheat were analyzed in parents and their F3, F4 and F5 hybrids. Three female parents (Briscard, Carifen 12 and Rescler) were crossed with two male parents (Francuska and PKB-Prelivka). Same crosses were repeated

Pedigree-Based Deciphering of Genome-Wide Conserved Patterns in an Elite Potato Parental Line
Elite parental lines are more likely to breed fine varieties, but knowledge about elite parents and their genetic backgrounds is limited. In this paper, we investigated the pedigree relationships of potato varieties bred worldwide and in China.

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Genetic Characterization of Indubrasil Cattle Breed Population
The Indubrasil breed was developed in the Brazilian region called Triângulo Mineiro as a result of a cross between zebu cattle. Initially, it was used as a terminal cross and currently it represents approximately 4.45% of all the Brazilian zebu ...

Effective Sample Size: Quick Estimation of the Effect of Related Samples in Genetic Case-Control Association Analyses [PDF]
Correlated samples have been frequently avoided in case-control genetic association studies in part because the methods for handling them are either not easily implemented or not widely known.

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Genomic selection in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) [PDF]
Genomic selection (GS) can increase the genetic gain in plants. In perennial crops, this can be achieved via shortened breeding cycles and increased selection intensity. Our objective was to obtain the first empirical estimate of GS accuracy in oil palm (

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
