PEDIGREE‐PLOT: a computer program for plotting pedigrees
Clinical Genetics, 1987PEDIGREE‐PLOT is a FORTRAN program which can be used for the drawing of pedigrees in either a horizontal or a circular shape. Eight different symbols are available for characterizing a person. Special symbols for stillbirth, abortion, unspecified sex, twins and half sibships exist.

The problem of drawing a pedigree in a clear and concise manner is discussed and a case is made for the adoption of the marriage node graph as the most appropriate format in which to depict highly looped pedigrees. A method for assigning suitable coordinates to marriages and individuals is then described.

IPED2X: A robust pedigree reconstruction algorithm for complicated pedigrees
Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, 2014Reconstruction of family trees, or pedigree reconstruction, for a group of individuals is a fundamental problem in genetics. Some recent methods have been developed to reconstruct pedigrees using genotype data only. These methods are accurate and efficient for simple pedigrees which contain only siblings, where two individuals share the same pair of ...

The article discusses the body of information that has been collected concerning the origin of human beings. It begins with biologist Thomas Henry Huxley who wrote "Evidence as to Man's Place in Nature," which applied evolutionary scientist Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to humans.

Pedigrees are a foundation of genetic counseling and human genetic research. To protect patient/subject and family privacy and confidentiality it is not unusual to find published pedigrees that have been masked (i.e. a pedigree that has been changed in ways that are obvious to the reader such as diamonds to mask gender) or altered (i.e.
